“There is a great way of celebrating our past while creating the future”.

And it really makes for a timeless look.

I love this phrase it really invokes a lot of what  I feel is a great time. in that it is so important to honor, respect  and understand the past but also to blaze a new path and look into the future.

I feel that the transitional is really what is being said, but that does not cover it as well as new tradition.

Here are some Design concepts that define what we are seeing now.

I am lovng the look of wood and metal.

loving using something from the past along with something contempray and creating design that has no label other than personal.

Interior design –  the most important form of artistic self expression.

Man has had  a desire to make his living space more beautiful since the beginning of time.

Take for example, wallcoverings!

Hieroglyphics were the earliest form of wallcoverings. It  was a way to tell a story.

Not much has changed. What do we do with Interior Design today,? We tell our life story through our stylings.

Your  personal interior design style  tells where you have been and where you want to go.

So our home NEVER stays the same.  It reflects our change.

Thoughts on Earth Day 2011

When we were on a panel recently, one of the questions that was asked was about leed certified  Design.

The way on of our fellow panelist answered was so poignant, he said f*%$ that.

It is a way of life.

Simply  put and  so true… We  think about how everything we use and the  footprint it leaves.

So with that in  mind….it is a lifestyle not one day a year or a certification.

Time for the CFO and CEO  to do some more Research & Development.

This weekend we are focusing on Art and of course some of the great Design,  so we will be heading over to San Francisco and checking out theses museums and all this great city has to offer.

We are open to ideas!

You bet Art Matters!

Art is everything in your  space.

Look around your home everything you have has an emotional connection.

If it doesn’t well what does that say about your life?

Luxury is the connection between how you Design your home and how you FEEL  in your home.

Here are some various elements of Art ranging from classic to other elements of your home.

I read a quote recently “Everything Goes With Pink”.

While I agree pink is a color that goes with almost anything, too much of a good thing can be too much!

And at what point do we realize that this will cycle through.

Here is an example of a job we did that was a remodel and at that point in time Pink was an “it” color.

Please consider this when using Honeysuckle Pink, USE IT SPARINGLY!

You will want to change it period!

Acknowledgment of great people of Interior Design: I work with two of the most amazing people  on earth!

The glass in our homes is so important.  We want our windows to let in natural elements but we also want to maintain our privacy, not to mention the artistic and practical considerations.

Here are some ideas for making your home more glass classy…

The first row of images is by GlasPro are artistic AND  practical. They also hve  glass that can be switched from clear to privacy mode.

The second row are mirrors that have TVs inset in them . We love the hidden TV which can be used as Art and a television.
