Art and what it means to you?

Art is commonly thought of as “An Individual Piece of Art” that is: a picture, a sculpture or a piece to observe or see and not be touched.

Try envisioning your environment as Living –Breathing- Art-An Interactive Space.

A painting that hangs on a wall or a statue on a pedestal. “Pieces” to be used in the space; which might be the “key piece” of the space, priceless, the main reason you want to design the space-however, this key piece is one of a multitude of components that make an entire space work for you!

Our passion is to create interactive artful spaces incorporating functions of design.

Think about how something as simple as how a piece of material feels against your skin -it may have a sensual nature, make you feel relaxed, uplift you and why? This is the tactile or physical part of design that can make all of the difference in a space for you- That’s the type of emotional connection we will draw to your space!

Your environment has the potential to be an emotional interactive space invoking feelings that meet your needs.

Every item within the space shares its role in creating a:

Stay-Cation…We live in the best city in the world for this!

We are lucky to live in a city where entertainment and events are going on constantly! This makes it is to enjoy a Luxury Lifestyle in our own backyard. Las Vegas has some hidden gems so here are some jewels.
The spa a lakeside is right on the waterfront and the prices are not strip prices, so you feel like in one of the best resorts such as Wynn, Encore, City Center, and Bellagio but without the strip prices. You really get the feeling you are not in your home town. after that have lunch and Marche Bacchus, This will provide you with a feeling of sitting somewhere in France, maybe at the Monaco Grand prix, order a nice bottle of wine and let yourself be transported. Marche Bacchus is in the summerlin area.
Now it is time for music under the stars, “Jazz in the park” at the government building… it’s free and the setting is great among all the architecture of the area…treat yourself to the luxury of this contemporary area. This is not Newport Beach, but it is Las Vegas and we do have Paris, Italy among others. We have the luxury lifestyle down in this town and
you get the feeling you are not in your home town all the while you are home.

A VACATION WITHOUT THE KIDS?

Turning your Home into a Resort and take a “Staycation”-we are.

Is it possible without asking a family member to come watch the kids? Yes it is! We (Jill and Marc) are doing this while the kids are in school (hint, hint, hint)!

Sharing ideas with you for what we are planning on doing individually and as a couple on our “staycations” may inspire you to take this idea and run with it as well….. so, here we stay!

• Polish & Pamper: First thing- we are going to have someone come in and clean our house and make our bed each day as if we were in a hotel!

• Nature & Nurture: Marc is going to head out to Dead Horse Canyon to go mountain biking just southwest of town. Jill is going to get a hot rock massage and a facial at the spa.

• Feed & Flourish: We will meet at Four Seasons “Verandah” for lunch. Afterwards, the house is clean and quiet and it’s time to read and take a nap.

• Renew and Rejuvenate: Another day will be spent enjoying a day shopping together for some niceties at Nordstrom’s…and seeing a mid-day fashion show at the mall, then take a stroll over to the Wynn Resort for a light lunch before picking up the kids from school.

• Inspire & Initiate: Playing tourist on the Las Vegas Strip and getting some inspiration from the galleries and artistic vision of the architecture within… What’s better than that…when you’re in a town with so much design inspiration, why not take advantage of what’s available right outside your door and initiate new ideas and local connection!

• Fitness & Form: Enjoying Bikram Yoga together and making sure to exercise daily.

• Educate & Enlighten: Finally spending time at a local bookstore / library for inspirational and uplifting ways of leading a healthier and more fulfilled life while continually incorporating design into our daily routine.

Whatever it is for you-make your home your place to retreat and enjoy the area you live in….why wait until you go out of town to live in a resort…..just take a “Staycation”.

VISIBILITY IN THE HOME

Visibility in the home- what things do you want people to see in your home and what things don’t you?

The ability to bring the outside in is a key component to creating a visually fluid space from the entrance of your home to the outdoor areas.

When you don’t need a ton of privacy leave your windows uncovered or with minimal filtering materials- One of the first things people experience is the light you have coming from the outdoor areas through your windows.

Bring light in without sacrificing privacy. Visibility in your bathrooms can be private in addition to being bright when using decorative glass materials vs. your standard builder’s windows or doors. Choose material which still allows light in without sacrificing privacy.

Use glass or crystal to enhance your lighting fixtures, bringing a reflective quality and sparkle to the area while creating a visual statement.

Many builders use slab doors which can reduce your visibility and make your space seem smaller-try adding insets with glass to increase the open feeling.

Glass-try using it in a variety of ways to add to the mood, visibility, privacy, and energy of your home.

BOOKS ABOUT COLOR

Finding resource books about color might be of use when creating that perfect mood. Here are a few books to take a look at:
1001 Ideas for Color and Paint by Emma Callery
Choosing Colors by Kevin McCloud
A Book of Colors by Shigenobu Kobayshi

The important thing about color is to have fun. Remember how easy it was to use color when you were a child? What do we fear when we are choosing a color for our home? Be a kid and experiment and if you don’t like it start again.

Changing the colors on your walls is one of the least expensive ways to make a huge impact on your environment! Put a few splashes of colors on a wall and live with them for a few days. Feel the energy change in the space and pick the color(s) with a positive impact on your mood.

Take time to research how the colors you have an affinity for impact your daily life, and you may be surprised at the outcome.

MOODS AND COLORS

I read somewhere a statement of: “I am allergic to beige”. I know what they mean. The importance of colors when designing a room is essential! So this week we will discover how one’s mood can be changed with color.

After having recently toured Encore Las Vegas, I found the predominant color is red. Red is the color of power and strength not to mention sexuality. How do you want to feel when you go out? The Decor at Encore invokes a mood of: “Yeah, I look good… I am feelin it”. When you Design a home what colors you choose say a lot about you. Do you have Red in your bedroom? What color is your kitchen? What is the overall color theme of your home?

This week I will add a post on the effects colors have on your moods.

HISTORY OF COLOR

HOLLYWOOD

HOLLYWOOD

Purple is a great color to start with!
Did you know that color purple was reserved for royalty and the extremely wealthy in ancient times? In extreme cases, one could be killed for wearing it unless they were in this group! Purple is the latest Haute color in fashion, furnishings and accessories this season. There were quite a few actresses sporting all shades of purple and lavendar at this past Academy Awards.
Here is an example of it being worn by todays “Royalty.”

NEW COLORS COMING OUR WAY!

It is a great time to talk about color as spring brings more color into our lives. As we move away form the greys and blacks that have been popular and will continue to be bright colors are coming our way. Maybe we need a little brightness and light after the long hard winter we have been through. The Masion-Objet, Paris furniture show, gives a glimpse of colors coming our way. What we have seen and heard is what you might of already noticed in fashion, purples, yellows, oranges in very bright shades almost florecent. The use of black with these colors neutrized and gave a certian sonphistcation and soften the look up.
Here is an example we saw at the furinture show we attened
